MAKE LIFE FUN AGAIN

“It wasn't until I accepted myself just as I was that I was free to change.”
- Carl Rogers

These Are The Tools I Use:

1. MINDFULNESS (aware & allow)
This is the beginning of the work - practicing self awareness, on purpose, with less and less judgement, more and more acceptance, gradually.
  • Weekly Classes: Come and try these practices with me
  • Presence Practice: bringing the wandering mind back to the present moment
  • Neuroception Training: Sensing bodily sensations helps us recognise states
  • Habit Holidays: Practice being kind to yourself and others
  • Drama Triangle: Understanding the roles we play.
  •  Gratitude Journaling: Practising gratitude for your life as it is

2. Body THERAPY (Healing the Hurts)
This is the bulk of the work for most of us - therapy that helps us heal our wounds and re-parent abandon parts of ourselves, so we can live whole and authentically. This is not easy or quick work, but in my experience, it is incredibly powerful.
  • 1:1 Coaching and Counselling : Work with me directly for a tailored approach, where we can use:
  • Breathwork and Grounding: Learning simple ways to calm the nervous system
  • Mindful Massage and Movement: Refresh and relax the body
  • Somatic Experiencing and Pendulation: Using awareness of the body to discover and heal trauma
  • Counselling with Voice Dialogue Parts Work: Giving space to the inner parts to grieve, express, be seen, heard and understood helps us create inner peace and integration of our shadow
  • Trauma and Memory Healing: Psychotherapy to revisit the past, to grieve, revaluate and reintegrate.

3. ACCEPTANCE AND COMMITMENT THERAPY (ACT)
Combining coaching and counselling we can harness the power of the mind and build healthy habits of thought and action. We may need to first  work with the way the mind has been trained but soon we can become more aligned with our values and more disciplined in ourselves, rooted in love.
  • 6 Week Courses: Learn these skills in a group
  • Panicked Protector Parenting: Learning to spot and parent the parts of us that panic, to try and protect ourselves
  • The STOP technique: Challenging disempowering thoughts, stuck on repeat in four easy steps, based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): Reframing unhelpful and irrational thought patterns.
  •  Comfort Zone Challenges: Taking tiny steps into new territory
  • Learning to Love:  Habitualizing love for ourselves and others

4. Socialisation skills  (share & care)
We can't do this alone. We need networks of people - friends and family. We need to learn how to set boundaries and ask for help. This is the hardest thing you might do, because each person we relate to has their own mind--full-of-mess: traumas, triggers and stories. But it's what makes everything else worth it - the joy of friendship and community.
  • Intimacy Workshops : Learning to enjoy the pleasure of being human
  • Wheel of Consent Practice: Find your truth in touch with others
  • The SAFER technique : Learn to relate in compassionate ways that help everyone to feel heard and understood.
  • Boundaries work: Practice expressing your clear, loving edges
  • Emotional Expression: Learn to dance, sing and make art with your emotions

Poppy and I worked together to overcome some of her personal anxieties.

"I really appreciated the time Neil took to understand my current situation, what I want to achieve.  The variety of different methods and ways, plus Neil's obvious experience, made me feel I was in safe hands, even when tackling difficult topics."
