Rejection Therapy was so much fun and blew my mind! - Jo
Many of my clients experience fear of rejection, anxiety of being judged, shame feelings of inadequacy or 'too muchness'.
These fears can socially cripple people and inhibit their authentic expression and block them from making friends and meeting romantic partners. The fear of rejection can prevent us from taking the necessary risks of giving our gifts to the world and living out our deepest longings and can leave us stuck in monotony.
The answer is often surprisingly simple. Embrace our worst fears. Embrace rejection and failure.
I came up with the idea, inspired by Jia Jiang's 100 days of rejection (he now teaches Rejection Therapy ) and also my own growing up as a boy, trying to grow in confidence approaching people. I wasn't always the confident man I have become. I had to learn through exposure. The good news? I learned to LOVE exposure and realised there is no actual risk. It's all the illusion of fear in the mind and excited and aroused sensations in the body. It's only by practice can we train our nervous systems to know this truth and learn to relax in social situations.
I love working closely with clients to help them grow in confidence and so I brought Rejection Therapy into my 1:1 coaching. The idea is that we work together in coaching to help you overcome your internal blocks and create a positive mindset. Then we do a 2 hour session out in a social environment.
2 hr session (We can add an extra hour if required.
This is usually followed with a follow up coaching session.
Rejection Therapy can be done any time of day and in different environments. The key is to have a buddy who is good at encouraging and supporting. You might not need me. Do you have a loving friend who is up for it? That's how I started offering this, to my mates. I ahve now worked with clients who really enjoy the process and find a lot of confidence through coaching with me.

- Client and coach meet in a social place. Coach helps the client to set an intention, connect to the body and prepare to be rejected.
- The mission is to approach people and practice opening a conversation and proposing we
- a)dance
- b)go for a longer conversation outside
- c)exchange numbers
- When you get rejected you return to your coach (me) and we celebrate. This is all about taking the risk and failing. Failing becomes part of the success.
- During the encounters I encourage clients to be honest about the experiment, so there is informed consent during the interaction. . The whole point is to expose ourselves and try to connect.
- We leave time at the end to wrap up and calm the nervous system, celebrate wins and acknowledge and address lingering self-judgments. The client is free to continue without the coach.
This is usually followed with a follow up coaching session.
